The Satara District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd. (DCCB) has been engaged in the work of socio-economic upliftment of farmers since 1950. As per the RBI guidelines, the bank decided to go live with Core Banking Solution along with a centralized Data Center and DR site for all banking operations.
A few years back, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandated a deadline for Urban Co-operative Banks (UCBs) to implement Core Banking Solutions (CBS) in lieu of strengthening and revitalizing Rural Cooperative Credit Delivery System. Majority of Urban Co-operative and District Central Co-operative banks came under pressure to comply with the RBI guidelines and same was the case with Satara DCCB. With 257 branches, 40 extension counters and 10 divisional offices, it was a crucial challenge for Satara DCCB. However, they decided to go live on the core banking solution with centralized Data Center and DR site as well for all banking operations by collaborating with ESDS.
Mr. Takle, Head of IT at the Satara DCCB, elaborates, “Lack of appropriate skill sets and expertise to maintain and manage the on premise data center, is another recurring challenge that a DCCB has to face,” he further adds.
ESDS delivered the first phase of implementation of the entire solution in 11 days. Since then, the Data Center and DR site have been efficiently operational without any downtime. Not to mention, Satara DCCB could comply with RBI mandate in the stipulated time frame as well. Analyzing every challenge experienced by Satara DCCB and after carefully selecting every component of the solution, ESDS provided Satara DCCB with an end-to-end Turnkey Banking solution on BOOT model.
The Satara DCCB has managed to upscale its profits and total business, as the data from more than 300 branches is available to the CEO and Board of Directors in few clicks. Transformation of the bank from a TBA based banking system to a complete Core banking system has helped the Satara DCCB to compete with nationalized banks and other cooperative banks in building comfort with the local farmers.
