  • Types of address with respect to destination host numbers.

    Address Types are :
    Unicast: One to One (Global, Link local)
    Destined for one, delivered to one.
    Anycast: One to Nearest (Allocated from Unicast)
    Destined for many, delivered to one.
    This IP is destined for many IPv6 addresses but whoever comes first in the way packet is given to only that single host.
    Multicast : One to Many
    Destined for many, delivered to many.
    A single interface may be assigned multiple IPv6.
    No Broadcast Address → Use Multicast
    In IPv6, Broadcast addresses are replaced with multicast addresses.
    Differentiating between colon from IPv6 address and port number is done as below:
    In a URL, it is enclosed in brackets (RFC2732)
    http://[2001:1:4F3A::206:AE14]:8080/index.html
