Essel Propack is a leading global specialty packaging company, manufacturing laminated plastic tubes catering to the MFCG and Pharma space. Essel Propack functions through 24 state of the art facilities in eleven countries, and continues to grow every year at a rapid pace. They cater to a diverse portfolio of FMCG and Pharmaceutical brands including cosmetics, personal care, food and oral care.
Challenge
Essel Propack needed a comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) mechanism to support rapidly enlarging business and keep it secure against possible risks.
Essel Propack lacked operational readiness even though they had their DC and DR sites in place. The location of their primary datacenter in a possibly disaster-prone area made the establishment of a robust DR protocol all the more essential.
To ensure business continuity, the conduction of mock drill procedures was important for optimum mechanism and setting up a single console system to monitor and manage on-site operations.
Solution
Essel Propack zeroed in on ESDS for consulting and operationalization partners, after thoroughly evaluating the providers in the market. ESDS provided ESSEL Propack with a complete DR plan which included people, policy, equipment, process, technology and support that ensured that the firm was always data protected.
By keeping in mind the client requirements, ESDS charted out a comprehensive DR strategy for the firm. Initially, ESDS started disaster recovery of the production SAP ECC system on a HP-UX platform. Simultaneously, ESDS implemented its cloud-based DR solution, eNlight cloud, which could take care of DR requirements for other business systems like Active Directory, MS Exchange servers, Sharepoint systems, Lync servers, etc. ESDS’ DRaaS on the eNlight Cloud gave Essel Propack the option of a single independent DR Site to act as a back-up for multiple data centers across the globe
Further, the use of automated technology minimizes the recovery time greatly after a failure as users immediately get switched to the DR site without noticing a major downtime. Using ESDS’ solution, Essel Propack has achieved a benchmark of 10 minute RPO and 30 minute RTO. This has reduced the chances of any data loss significantly.
Our Auto-Resource Scaling feature in eNlight allowed the VMs at the DR site to make optimal utilization of resources which helped them in reducing investment cost on IT infrastructure of DR by a significant percentage.
Essel Propack has also been able to proactively maintain compliance as DR test reports are automated. Today, the firm has been able to manage the primary as well as the DR site through a single console using the eMagic datacenter management suite.
