This role is critical in ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all network layers and hypervisor environments\u2014directly supporting the scalability and resilience of core business operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>What the Role needs to Achieve<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Design, implement, and maintain the company&#8217;s network and virtualization infrastructure<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hypervisor Engineering<\/strong>: Modify, patch, and extend the\u00a0<strong>KVM hypervisor<\/strong>to enhance performance, security, isolation, or feature sets aligned with business and product needs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kernel &amp; OS Customization<\/strong>: Work with\u00a0<strong>Linux kernel modules<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>OS package management tools<\/strong>(yum, apt, dnf, rpm, deb), and system boot processes to maintain a highly optimized virtual infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Virtualization Stack Expertise<\/strong>: Engineer solutions that span\u00a0<strong>VM image formats<\/strong>(qcow2, vmdk, vhd, ovf, xva),\u00a0<strong>cloud-init integration<\/strong>, and support for\u00a0<strong>high availability<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>clustering<\/strong>\u00a0in virtualized environments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Networking Integration<\/strong>: Design and implement advanced virtual networking capabilities using\u00a0<strong>Open vSwitch<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>VXLAN<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>L2\/L3 routing<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>SDN<\/strong> Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless LAN\/WAN\/SAN interactions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Performance Tuning &amp; Debugging<\/strong>: Analyze hypervisor and kernel-level behavior to troubleshoot complex system issues, apply performance patches, and optimize virtualization throughput and latency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Platform Integration<\/strong>: Ensure tight integration of KVM with\u00a0<strong>containers<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kubernetes<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>cloud orchestration platforms<\/strong>like OpenStack. Collaborate with DevOps teams using tools like\u00a0<strong>GitLab<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jira<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>IaC<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Security &amp; Compliance<\/strong>: Harden the hypervisor and kernel environment, enforce system integrity, and build controls to comply with internal and external security standards.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research &amp; Innovation<\/strong>: Explore and implement emerging technologies including\u00a0<strong>AIOps<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>MLOps<\/strong>, and hardware virtualization acceleration to advance the platform\u2019s capabilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Documentation &amp; Knowledge Sharing<\/strong>: Maintain detailed documentation of kernel modifications, system architecture changes, and testing strategies. Contribute to engineering best practices and mentor peer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Knowledge And Skills Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deep experience with\u00a0<strong>Linux kernel development<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>KVM<\/strong>, and virtualization internals.<\/li>\n<li>Strong programming skills in\u00a0<strong>C<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Python<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Go<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with\u00a0<strong>hypervisor integration formats<\/strong>(qcow2, vmdk, vhd, xva), cloud-init, and OS image management.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with\u00a0<strong>cloud platforms<\/strong>(AWS, Azure, GCP) and\u00a0<strong>open-source cloud stacks<\/strong>\u00a0(OpenStack).<\/li>\n<li>Solid understanding of\u00a0<strong>OSI model<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>networking protocols<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>SDN<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>firewalls<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>load balancers<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>storage protocols<\/strong>(iSCSI, NFS).<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to\u00a0<strong>DevOps<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>IaC<\/strong>, CI\/CD pipelines, and agile toolchains like GitLab and Jira.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of\u00a0<strong>clustering<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>HA<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>containers<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Kubernetes<\/strong>in a virtualization context.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Educational Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>7+ years of hands-on experience in network administration, network design, and virtualization technologies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Network and Virtualization Engineer is expected to lead the design, deployment, and ongoing optimization of robust network and virtualization infrastructures.
