Solution Overview

Hosted SAP model is a revolutionary approach to serve the customers who want to use the benefits of cloud technology and the pay-per-use offerings. Fujitsu’s Flex frame in combination with enterprise hardware providers like Dell and HP ensure the possibility to provide a complex infrastructure of SAP solutions with high reliability and scalability. To bring this into reality, there has been a major configuration paradigms shift to the technology of infrastructure, for example:

• SAP servers are configured to boot over the network using a shared operating system
• Insertion of SAP virtualization by decoupling of application and operating system
• Allowing SAP database to get attached to either shared or dedicated storage
• Provision of a revolutionary mechanism through Autonomous agents for the implementation of high availability function without any cluster services.

The concept of hosted SAP consists of a combination of several hardware components that implements a state-of-the-art functionality. With Autonomous agents the whole solution is far more than a bunch of hardware components. All the hardware components are tightly integrated with each other which results in dramatic reduction in day to day operations of SAP application which in return provides high performance to the end user. On the other hand it can also provision an integrated Network Storage or SAN into the hosted infrastructure else the storage can be externally attached to the application. Similarly for backups or DR, a separate dedicated hardware, tape storage along with the high availability software and operating system would be required.

The infrastructure for hosted SAP solution also consists of software which is strictly defined to enable the complete SAP environment to function properly. Anything that is not used for integration of hardware is not a part of the infrastructure. All the SAP application and its required software are installed separately.
